Transcription of UK civil status documents into the Romanian registries
For Romanian nationals, it is mandatory to transcribe the documents issued in the UK by the Register Office.
Romanian citizens must transcribe the foreign civil documents obtained abroad. If a Romanian citizen is born or dies abroad or if a Romanian citizen gets married or divorced abroad, the relevant documents must be registered with the Romanian authorities.

Generally speaking, there are two options to transcribe the civil status documents:
- The first option is to use the Romanian Consulate in the UK
- The second option is to apply for the transcription of the document directly in Romania at the relevant authority, such as the local register office.
